Brittany Bautista

Career Services Student Coordinator

Brittany Bautista is a recent Film and Broadcast Alumni of Tribeca Flashpoint College. Getting her Associate's at TFC has unexpectedly come in handy, not only for going into the film industry, but in joining her school's Career Services team. Having worked with professionals in and outside of Tribeca Flashpoint, has given her a better understanding of what the "real world" can throw at you and how to tackle those situations, thus she loves to help others succeed by sharing the knowledge she's acquired. Even before attending TFC, Brittany has been active in the arts within Chicago, by working with musical acts and videographers. She has also had her fair share of internships, which will surely serve as a guide to helping future TFC students seek out their own internship opportunities. Brittany has had a deep love for the atmosphere of Chicago and loves to explore, enjoy the views, and use it as inspiration for her art.

Fun Fact: Brittany loves Hello Kitty and Twizzlers so feel free to bring her some!

Donald (DJ) Meadows

Recording Arts

DJ has recently secured a Summer Internship with JJack Productions. DJ's goal has been to get involved in the film industry in order to tap into his passion, which is audio for film. His internship at JJack Productions will certainly help him accomplish this as well as help him gain a new set of skills.

We asked DJ a few questions regarding his experience here at TFC and here's what he had to say!

What has been your favorite thing about attending Tribeca Flashpoint College so far?

My favorite thing about attending TFC has been the community feeling that a lot of other institutes promise but fail to  really uphold. Building life-long relationships (both personal/professional) is a lot easier when everyone is in the same boat. I also really love the accessibility to resources and faculty who truly want to see nothing but success for their students.

What’s your advice for incoming students?

My advice for incoming students (especially straight out of high school) is do not slack off and be passionate about your art. No matter what type of discipline you decide to get into if you show energy, passion, and a desire to be successful by paying attention in lecture classes, doing the work [and more], collaborating, and always having a positive outlook/attitude you won't go unnoticed by staff, faculty, or your fellow student body. Promise. Let people know why you are there but also show them the talent you have to back up your case AND become very good friends with your Career Services department (they have helped me through a lot so far!)

The Chicago Underground Film Festival is an annual event showcasing independent, experimental and documentary films from around the world.

Founded in 1993, The Chicago Underground Film Festival (CUFF) is a year-round organization dedicated to the work of film and video makers with defiantly independent visions. Unlike many other “independent” film events our goal is not to imitate old guard, market-driven events such as Sundance but Instead to focus on the artistc, aesthetic and fun side of independent filmmaking. CUFF promotes works that dissent radically in form, content and technique from both the tired conventions of Hollywood and the increasingly stagnant IndieWood mainstream.

This year’s festival at the Logan Theater will offer a complementary mix of independent features, shorts, documentaries and experimental films augmented by nightly parties and concerts. Our programming is innovative and unique, ranging from the lowbrow entertainment of John Waters, Doris Wishman and Coffin Joe to fine art films/videos of the current avant-garde. With an exponential growth each year in both attendance and film submissions, the Chicago Underground Film Festival is an undeniable success.

The Moxie Awards will gather Chicago's most innovative digital entrepreneurs for an evening of celebration. Join us as we recognize outstanding individuals and companies, including Best Consumer Web, Best New Startup, Best Company Culture and CEO of the Year.

Four hours of open bar, heavy hors d'oeuvres and delicious desserts will be provided.

Visit their website for sponsors, rules, and announcements, plus follow us on Twitter for updates on finalists, ticket sales, and more.

We Hack Too is a 48 hour virtual hackathon with a one-day multi-city code-hack event. Students ranging from middle school to college can participate, whether beginners or experienced. It’s a dynamic opportunity to introduce coding to new talent – as well as cultivate emerging talent. We’re bringing together diverse skillsets and interests while putting inspiration, creativity and ingenuity center stage.
