This is an ideal opportunity for you to network with TFC Alumni from various disciplines who will be back on campus. There will be an Alumni Panel, so you will have the opportunity to ask them questions about life after graduation, working in the industry, as well as their advice! 

 

After the Alumni Panel there will be an Alumni Reunion mix and mingle, which all students are also invited to in order to further chat and network with alumni aside from the Alumni Panel.

Jill and Temi will be discussing the importance of Personal Branding - how to identify it, communicate it and use it throughout your job search and networking efforts.

 

As a professional certified coach, Jill is adept at identifying and addressing client needs, delivering quality results, improve performance and relationships.

 

As a former recruiting coordinator at Groupon, Temi has wide experience with all things related to interviews, candidate screenings, hirings, etc. Temi is the ideal person to discuss the do's and don'ts to consider throughout the job search. She has recently transitioned to communications role at a small nonprofit, where she continues to hire interns, and prepare students for the interview process.

Named by New City as one of the top 50 people in Chicago's booming film industry, Angie is an award-winning producer, speaker, and entrepreneur with experience in film, television, commercials, and theatre. Angie will be talking about Black Apple Media, Stage 18, her career and Chicago's film industry. 

Currently, Angie works through her own company, Black Apple Media, to develop original, narrative content and cultivate the artists that make it. Additionally, Angie also serves as the Co-Founder and Executive Director for Stage 18, a non-profit entertainment incubator and development lab located on the lot of Cinespace Chicago Film Studios. Stage 18 develops local narrative content and connects qualified filmmakers with capital networks.

 

 

TUESDAY, APRIL 5TH

Deborah and Kyle will be discussing the importance of partnering with creative staffing and recruiting agencies in order to assist with the success of your job search efforts. 

 

Deborah just transferred to Vitamin T (part of Aquent) in Chicago after four years in Sydney Australia. In Sydney, she was brought on board to head up the PR & Communications division at Firebrand, and here in the Chicagoland she is working in creative and digital recruitment. 

 

Kyle is an Agent at Vitamin T. What does that mean? He's looking for, and placing, the top digital creatives in the Greater Chicago area.

 

So, make sure you ask Kyle and Deborah LOTS of questions!

As a Human Resources Executive with success in positions with Big 4, mid-size and start-up companies. Pete's cross industry work experience includes Technology, Insurance, Banking, Manufacturing, Pharmaceutical, Financial Services, Environmental Services and Professional Services.

Pete will be offering a Q&A session as he finds that HR issues are really very similar for all organizations and industries; they just vary in scope and complexity. People are people regardless of where they work. HR should not be complicated but it can be because, well, HR is in the business of dealing with people and people are complicated. 

 

As you prepare to enter the workforce, make sure to ask Pete as many questions as possible to help you better position yourself as you approach potential candidates when you apply for jobs, interview for positions and accept employment opportunities!

As a freelance writer with a specialization in pop culture and arts coverage, Dan will be discussing his perspective as a freelancer. He will share with you key tips and recommendations you need to know in order to succeed in the world of freelance.

 

Dan is also a Senior Staff Writer at Consequence of Sound, where he reviews albums and films, writes exclusive music and movie-related features, and has interviewed everyone from Brian Wilson to Stephen Malkmus, Gene Simmons, Three 6 Mafia, and Sara Quin of Tegan and Sara.

 

Dan has a wealth of knowledge to share, so make sure to ask him LOTS of questions!

TFC's Counseling Team

 

 

 

TFC's Counseling Team will be offering an informational presentation on public speaking and handling the stress and demands of a busy schedule. As we all know, this is a hectic time of year AND you will soon be very actively involved with your job search, which can be quite stressful and time consuming.

 

So, take this opportunity to learn from them and find comfort in the fact that no matter how busy things may get, we can certainly get through it.

 

Ask them questions and take it all in...this will be quite helpful as you prepare to meet with employers during the Career Fair!

Ana is a sound engineer with over 13 years of experience in Sound Design, Live Sound for Music Theater and Music production for the English and Hispanic market in Argentina, Colombia and in the United States. 

 

As a TFC alumna from the Recording Arts program, Ana will be discussing her role at ARU, the industry and her experience as a recent graduate entering the workforce in her field of study. Therefore, this is the perfect opportunity for you to ask questions, advice and tips directly from someone who was in your shoes just a year ago!
