STUDENT HIGHLIGHTS

Donald (DJ) Meadows

Recording Arts

DJ has recently secured an Internship with Periscope Studios. It has been DJ's goal to secure an internship with Periscope Studios and get involved in the film industry in order to tap into his passion, which is audio for film. His internship at Periscope Studios will certainly help him accomplish this as well as help him gain hands-on experience in his field of study...not to mention excellent networking opportunities! DJ has truly been and exemplary student and we wish him the best of luck in this great endeavor!

We asked DJ a few questions regarding his experience here at TFC and here's what he had to say!

What has been your favorite thing about attending Tribeca Flashpoint College so far?

My favorite thing about attending TFC has been the community feeling that a lot of other institutes promise but fail to  really uphold. Building life-long relationships (both personal/professional) is a lot easier when everyone is in the same boat. I also really love the accessibility to resources and faculty who truly want to see nothing but success for their students.

What’s your advice for incoming students?

My advice for incoming students is do not slack off and be passionate about your art. No matter what type of discipline you decide to get into if you show energy, passion, and a desire to be successful by paying attention in lecture classes, doing the work (and more), collaborating, and always having a positive outlook/attitude you won't go unnoticed by staff, faculty, or your fellow student body. Promise. Let people know why you are there but also show them the talent you have to back up your case AND become very good friends with your Career Services department (they have helped me through a lot so far!)

ALUMNI HIGHLIGHTS

Kaleigh Cox

Design & Visual Communication

Kaleigh is a 2016 Design & Visual Communication graduate who is currently a Junior Graphic Designer at Elite Communications Group. We asked Kaleigh a few questions and here's what she had to say!

What do you like most about working at Elite Communications Group?

What I like most about working at Elite Communications Group is getting more direct and hands-on experience working with clients.

What piece of advice do you have for TFC candidates currently job searching?

My advice for anybody looking for a job is to treat job searching as an actual job. Also, to email companies even if they aren't hiring. I made multiple connections and freelance opportunities by sending companies my portfolio.

Networking That Works... For You!

Whether you're looking to identify a potential investor, grow your customer base, or simply establish the relationships that will move your product or service forward, you need to be intentional about building your network.  Too often, people approach networking as a necessary evil, rather than as the enjoyable, productive experience it truly can be.  This session will uncover how to build a valuable professional network in a way that works for your unique communication and personality style.

Benefits of Attending:

  • Participants will learn the building blocks of effective networking

  • Participants will identify with the potential strengths and limitations of their personality style

  • Participants will create a basic value statement / elevator pitch

  • Participants will hear from a self-proclaimed introvert, who has made networking work for him

  • Participants will leave with specific strategies for starting/ending casual conversations and building genuine rapport
